Intel’s Proset gets leaky app!

The Intel (R) PROSet/Wireless Software version 10.5.0.0 has become a leaky application that does not save resources, especially NOT memory.

The problem is the s24evmon.exe (ver. 10.5.0.34) which creates handles to the Windows registry in an endless loop. With the increasing number of uptime, the amount of handles increases. The applications runs for approx. three days and now more than 46k handles to two registry keys are owned by this leaky app. — i.e. 23k per key.

Some more details? Yes the keys are the following ones:

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Class\
{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}\0027
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Class\
{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}\0016

This may differ, because those keys contain information about existing network adapters in the system, in my case two ones — the LAN and the WLAN adapter. How to solve the problem? Wait for a new update or use the previous version, because this bug is really a new one — thanks Intel!
